Registration & identification via KulturPass website

    From March 1, 2024, young people born in 2006 and living in Germany will be able to register in the KulturPass app, activate their KulturPass budget and use it from their 18th birthday.
    Young people born in 2005 and living in Germany had the opportunity to activate their budget until December 31, 2023, and can still use their budget until the end of 2024.

    You have the option to register and identify yourself via the KulturPass website with AusweisApp. Therefore, you also need the eID function of your German National Identity Card, your eID Card or your electronic residence title. This requires a suitable card reader or NFC-enabled smartphone or tablet to read the data of your ID document.  Using AusweisApp2, this data is then encrypted and transmitted to the KulturPass.

    Info: If you do not want to use the AusweisApp, it is best to register and identify yourself via the KulturPass app and not via the website, as the eID function is integrated in the KulturPass app.


    How to register on the website step by step:

    To register for the first time, proceed as follows:


    1. Open the Kulturpass website https://storefront.prod.kulturpass.de/ in a browser.  You will be taken to the home page.
    2. By clicking on the long pink button with the title "Share your location to see local offers", you can specify whether the site can use your location to show you offers in your area.
    3. On the top left of the home page, you will see another smaller pink button “Register to use all features of the app” that allows you to register. Click on this button.
    4. A pop-up window will appear. Under the heading "You don't have an account yet?" click on "Register now".
    5. You will be shown the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, which you must accept to use the KulturPass.
    6. In the next step you enter your e-mail address and set your password. The name and date of birth are optional.
    7. Next, you can specify your preferences to optimize your offer suggestions. You can also enter your zip code if you have not already agreed to the use of your location (see step 2). You then click on "Save profile".
    8. You will now need to confirm your email address. An e-mail will be sent to you, click on the link in the e-mail. You will then receive a message that you have successfully registered.
    9. Now log in with your login details. You will need to identify yourself to activate your budget.
    Done! You have now successfully created your account. Now you just must identify yourself with the eID function of your German ID card, eID Card or electronic residence title to activate your KulturPass budget.

    This is how the identification on the website works step by step:

    On the KulturPass website, you can identify yourself using the activated eID function of German National Identity Card, your eID Card or your electronic residence title. To do this, proceed as follows:

    1. Open the KulturPass website and log in with your e-mail address and password. You start the identification process by clicking on the pink button at the top of your homepage ("For you" page). On the page that opens, you will be informed about the documents you can use to identify yourself. Click on "Agree".
    2. In the window that opens, you will see different information about the “AusweisApp2”. If you have already downloaded it, you can click on "Start AusweisApp". Now follow the instructions of “AusweisApp”.
    3. For this process you need:
      - the activated eID function of your German ID Card, electronic residence title or eID Card
      - your personal six-digit PIN
      - an NFC-enabled smartphone/ tablet or USB card reader
    4. Once you have gone through the process, you will be informed on the next page that your identification was successful. Click on "Done". You are ready to go! It will take some time for your budget to be activated.
