Alternative verification

    Alternative procedure for people who do not have the possibility of verification via the online ID function.


    Two steps are required to activate the KulturPass budget in the KulturPass app: registration and verification (to verify your age and place of residence).  

    The KulturPass uses a digital procedure that works via the online function of the ID document. It can be used with one of these three types of ID:

    • the German ID card (for German citizens)
    • the eID (for EU citizens and EEA citizens)
    • the eAT (electronic residence permit for citizens from third countries)

    Our aim is to give all eligible young people (HelpCenter article) access to the KulturPass - including those who do not have the possibility to obtain an ID card with an online function. This applies, for example, to refugees in the asylum procedure or with tolerated stay permit as well as people with disabilities who are exempt from the obligation to have an ID card.  

    For these groups of people, we offer an alternative way of verification in collaboration with cooperating institutions and organizations, so-called "Vermittlungsstellen".  

    You can find steps for alternative verification here:

    1. If you do not have access to an online ID card but meet all the necessary access requirements, send us an email to ident@kulturpass.de. Let us know that you would like to use the alternative verification options and tell us your permanent place of residence in your e-mail.  
    2. If you are already in contact with an intermediary social institution that could take on this role, please give us the name and contact details of the organization and, ideally, a contact person.
    3. If you are not yet in contact with a social institution, we will help you to find an intermediary institution, such as an organization for refugees or for youth work.
    4. We will then put you in touch with the intermediary organization so you can make an appointment with the contact person.

    !  Note: Download the KulturPass app before your visit, register with your e-mail address and confirm your registration with the confirmation link we have sent you.

      5. For the appointment on site at the social institution you will need the following:

    • A valid identity document or another official identification document. The institution arranging the appointment will confirm your personal details and we can activate your KulturPass budget.
    • You will also need to sign a consent form for data transfer (we will send you this by e-mail for preview).
    • We will also ask for your e-mail address and a few other personal details that you use in the KulturPass app.  

    As soon as we have received the documents from the intermediary organization and these have been successfully checked by us, we will activate your budget. You can recognize this by the fact that a pink box with a budget of 100 € appears on the start page of the app. You can now reserve individual offers and make full use of the KulturPass.
