Practical tips for budget activation

Are you having difficulties activating your budget? Here are some tips and tricks to help you: 

Remove the mobile phone cover to scan your ID 
In order for your mobile phone to read your ID card, you may have to remove your mobile phone cover first. The data on your ID card is not collected by your mobile phone camera, but by the app, which ready as a chip in your ID card. 

Place your ID card correctly 
If it doesn't work straight away and you have removed your phone cover, make sure that you have placed your ID card in front of your phine as shown in the instructions. If in doubt, check the Internet to see where the NFC chip is installed on your mobile phone model to find the correct position. 

Use the "Ausweis App" for activation 
If it is not possible to read your ID card in the KulturPass app, you can also use the federal government's ID card app, the "Ausweis App" to identify yourself. How this works is eyplained step by step here: Registration & identification via KulturPass website
Are you getting an error message? Here is an overview of the most common error messages and possible solutions: 

Try from another device 
Your mobile phone my not be NFC-capable or there may be another technical problem that prevents your card from being read. If you receive an error message several times, it is best to try again from another device. 
Once you have linked your ID to your KulturPass account, you can also use your budget from another device. All you have to do is log in with your access data (e-mail and password). 

Check whether the mobile phone/ tablet is NFC-enabled 
To activate your budget, you nee an NFC-enabled device. Check whether your device has this function and use a different device if not.
